How do you make a homemade 9.6v battery pack usable with a model plain?

How can you tell when a rechargeable battery pack (9.6v) is fully charged with a standard wall charger?

 How do you spill one's guts when the battery is fully Charged. Do you have to wait until it gets warm or very hot. How hot or make one should it get after taking it off charge?

 it may also be a unripened/red/yellow/blue LED that goes from steady on (or blinking) to blinking (or relentless on).

the temp of the battery simply tells u it is charging.
if that is the only indication you have then hang about till the battery starts cooling
