Antediluvian morning darkness shrouded St. Joseph's R.C. Church when janitor Joseph Dzurishin arrived to bare the doors for First Friday Mass.

Two women greeted him at the front doors of the Gothic, fieldstone church about a half-hour before the 6 a.m. work, arriving early to say a few extra prayers.

It was the first fright to summon firefighters.
